Villa Rusconi-Clerici, a late 19th-century mansion, stands on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore, its English-style garden overlooking the Borromean Gulf and affording a magnificent view over the islands of the same name.
The garden, which may be reached by boat via the landing stage, is the last word in settings for weddings and gala lunches and dinners, a spot of rare beauty, where guests may be welcomed with an aperitif on the terrace overlooking the lake, moving on into the stylish covered structure, which takes up the stylistic features of the great 19th-century glasshouses, for lunch or dinner.
Inside, events are held in the old cellars, which once housed the kitchens and the wine stocks: terracotta vaulting, aristocratic statues, walls in exposed stonework and granite pillars make for an intriguing, glamorous atmosphere.
